Activities of the Federation

The Maharashtra State Cooperative Consumers’ Federation Ltd, Mumbai is prominently engaged in the following activities and schemes:

Rationed Sugar Supply – Amount of sugar adequate for the BPL families in Mumbai is purchased directly from the sugar factories according to the orders of Rationing Controller, Mumbai and made available at the rationing shops in the city.

Sugar supply to APL families - As per the orders of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, sugar is procured directly from sugar factories so that it can be made available to the Ration Card holder APL families in Mumbai and Thane at the rate of Rs. 20 / Kg.

Supply of groceries to Government Hospitals – Groceries and other commodities required for the patients of Government hospitals administered by the Medical Education and Drugs Department of the State are supplied as per the statement issued by the Government in 2008-09.In Mumbai the Head office of MSCCF supplies the material whereas the divisional offices do the same for rest of Maharashtra.

Grocery Supply for Women and Child Development – As per the Government Resolution of 2005, the groceries and other commodities required for beneficiaries of  Government Hostels administered by Women and Child Development Department are supplied at the pre-determined district-level rates.

Supply to Anganwadi projects – As per the Government Resolution of Women and Child Development Department, the complementary nutritious food required for the Anganwadi projects of Zilla Parishads is supplied through Federation Divisional offices, if no Self-Help Group in the district is capable to do so.

Medical Shops in hospital campus – As per the Government Resolution of Medical Education Department dated 2nd March, 2009, the Federation has been allotted a space admeasuring 200-250 Sq. Ft. in the Government Medical college and Hospital campus. Currently, about 12 hospitals have such shops.

General Supply – As per the Government Resolution of Cooperation and Mareketing Department dated 23rd May, 2007, all Government and Semi-Government offices in the state are supplied goods required by them under various schemes.

Mobile PDS Shops – The Food and Civil Supplies Department of the State has provided the Federation with 4 mobile PDS shops that are run by Brihanmumbai Grain Dealers Association, Mumbai on contract basis as per Government Norms.

Apna Bhandar – The Federation operates Apnda Bhandar, a chain of 6 Departmental Stores (Mumbai – 2, Raigad – 1, Nagpur – 1, Sangli – 1 and Nashik – 1) that provide groceries and other essential commodities at reasonable rates. The Branch Managers purchase these goods from the local wholesale markets and sell them with a fixed profit.

Coal Distribution – As per the  orders of Industries, Energy and Labour Department, the Federation acts as nominee for providing coal to the SME sector in the State. As per Government Rules, Coal India Ltd distributes the coal received by its associates to the industries.
